What is Structural Integration (SI)?
Structural Integration (SI) is a series-based approach to organize the body along the vertical line of gravity and to create space along that line. We use deep and precise fascial techniques, coupled with movement re-education in order to help clients come out of inefficient movement patterns. It is based of the pioneering work of Dr. Ida Rolf.
SI seeks to address the root cause, rather than symptoms in order to find overall balance and freedom of movement from pain or discomfort. Our habits, hobbies, injuries, surgeries and even emotional distress affect how we use our bodies. We develop strain patterns where at first they are not causing our bodies any discomfort but over a long period of time, they manifest as chronic pain in our structure. Symptom relief or pain management becomes the goal rather than resolution.
Our bodies compensatory mechanism happens not only in our muscles and nervous system, but also in our fascial system. Fascia is the connective tissue that connects everything together in our bodies. We work the restrictions in the fascial network in order to unwind global strain patterns, giving your body back its natural length and create freedom and ease of movement in gravity.
